The Office of Science and Technology is responsible for developing intellectual property in all University departments.
The office assists University inventors in the development of their technologies either by licensing, new company
formation or other appropriate measures. In addition, the office is the contact point for all corporate interactions
with the Duke Medical School, which may include corporate gifts and sponsored clinical and basic research collaborations.

The Office of Technology Transfer and Commercialization (OTTC) manages the patenting, licensing, trademarking and copyrighting of intellectual property developed at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and its research centers, as well as other collaborative research activities where appropriate. The Office of Technology Development (OTD), in support of the university's mission to encourage innovation and disseminate knowledge, serves the university and the public by licensing discoveries developed by faculty, students and staff. OTD also assists faculty in obtaining research support from corporate sponsors. OTD negotiates and creates agreements, provides patent assistance, and assists in obtaining corporate sponsored research.

Wake Forest University's new Office of Technology Asset Management (OTAM) works with university faculty, students and staff to commercialize novel discoveries and other intellectual property developed at, or in cooperation with, Wake Forest University and the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. The main objective is the development of new products and services that may benefit the public through technology transfer. Commercialization may be through licensing to existing companies or through the creation of new businesses. OTAM works closely with industry, community leaders, scientists, investors, entrepreneurs, and many others to accomplish its commercialization objectives.
